In October of this year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) released data indicating a notable increase in the domestic producer price index (PPI) for the overall Turkish industry. The PPI rose by 1.29% compared to the previous month and experienced a significant year-on-year increase of 32.24%. Over the past 12 months, the average rise in the PPI has been recorded at 43.93%, highlighting ongoing inflationary pressures within the industrial sector.

Focusing on specific industries, the basic metal sector saw a month-on-month increase in the PPI of 2.33%, while year-on-year, it rose by 26.01%. This sector's average PPI increase over the last year was reported at 37.50%. These figures suggest a robust demand and pricing environment for basic metals, which could be influenced by various factors, including global market trends and local economic conditions.
In contrast, the PPI for Turkish manufactured metal products, excluding machinery, also showed positive growth in October. It increased by 1.0% from September and by 30.09% compared to the same month last year. For this manufacturing sector, an average increase of 47.39% in the PPI was recorded over the latest 12 months. This substantial rise indicates strong performance and potential opportunities for manufacturers in this segment as they navigate a challenging economic landscape.
