According to the Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (ADMIB), Turkish Metal Exports in the ferrous and non-ferrous sectors rose by 2.9% in September 2024, reaching $1 billion. Additionally, steel exports amounted to $1.5 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. Collectively, these industries accounted for 13% of Turkey's total exports for that month.

Romania emerged as the largest recipient of Turkish iron and steel exports, totaling $196 million, followed closely by Germany at $184 million and Italy at $155 million. The Turkish iron and steel sector has experienced significant growth in exports to various European nations, particularly Portugal, Italy, Spain, the UK, and Romania, marking a notable shift from August to September. Fuat Tosyalı, the president of ADMIB, commented on these figures, stating that demand from the European market and orders from African nations like Algeria have propelled the industry's recovery. He expressed optimism for strong performance in the final quarter of the year and anticipated a return to 2021 export levels in the following year.
In contrast, producers in Turkey's Mediterranean region saw a slight decline of 0.6% in ferrous and non-ferrous metal exports year-on-year, amounting to $63 million. However, steel exports from this region surged by an impressive 69% year-on-year to reach $243 million.
